Hi there, my name is Luke Benjamin Nelson and welcome to ‘Learn with Luke’ music tuition. I have been playing the keyboard for 15 years now, learning the basics from my father at the age of 10. I studied piano initially to Grade 1 standard as a teenager, it is worth mentioning that I do now play to a much higher standard!
The last 6 years, of my life in particular have been given over to musical education; as a result I have a college diploma and BA Hons degree in Music to boast of. I have played at most ‘open-mic nights’ and bars across Manchester, and have performed at more prestigious venues such as The Bridgewater Hall. I have performed solo gigs and in a group setting, but more recently have been diversifying – singing and playing in more intimate situations, such as wedding receptions and milestone birthdays. I have been ‘leading worship’ bi-weekly at my local church for the last 4 years approximately, and have enjoyed every minute. In this setting I have directed and arranged as well as played various instruments to facilitate the need of that particular service.
In terms of lesson space I do have a room available to teach from at my own home, with all the necessary equipment set up and ready to use. I do have the facility also to record lessons so pupils may see first hand just what they are doing well, and what could do with some improvement as they look back on lessons. I am able to teach Vocal and Guitar lessons as well as Piano.
I am a laid back and happy person, and so lessons will follow much in the same vein. This doesn’t mean progress will be slow or non-existent; it just means I will be a patient teacher who wants to develop the foundations for a love affair with music that will deepen and endure as long as your days do. This is as important to me as teaching you to play the actual music!
